WAIT

There are loads of things I find easy, well not too many, but we all have them, things most of us do quite easily,  I mean things that just come naturally to us like talking, laughing, eating,  sleeping and…Then there are things we are specially gifted to do, each one of us has something like music and singing and dancing and…, art and drawing, sculpting, painting and…tenderness, compassion, love and…some of these things and I don’t mean the artsy ones, come naturally to me, but not waiting.  Waiting for me is torture and a struggle, the moment it looks like something is going to require waiting I practically begin to look and dig around for some ways that I wouldn’t have to wait for it, most times, I work up a frenzy in the process or dig myself further into a hole of my making.  However, the bible says to wait
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…”Psalms 37:7 NIV.
Waiting is an essential part of the Christian faith, very critical in our walk with God.  As much as I struggled with waiting, I have had to do it, patiently too, I tell you it is not an easy feat for someone that wants answers now, and I know that’s speaking for most.  The children's bible giant killing hero David says this in the Psalms
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” Psalms 130:5 NIV.
Something about waiting is, it requires the whole being, actually it takes the ‘whole being’ to wait patiently as God demands.  You see the thing is, we all make such beautiful and lofty demands of him from our own selfishness and being a loving father He wants to be sure we can handle his beautiful and lofty gifts.  So while we are waiting, God is working in and on us to make us carriers of the grace and ability fit for the beauty and loftiness we desire.  Now if like me you’re all fidgety and wiggly and complaining while he is working, he wouldn’t get very far quickly because he will not force or restrain you, like every parent, he would wait till you are calm and quieted down, to continue his work.  David says..
..” I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Psalms 131:2 NLT.
So be like me and do like David did, he fixed his hope in God’s word and calmed himself to wait patiently for the lord. I counsel, wait with your whole being and feast on his word while you are at it, hold onto his promises, build your hope on it, let this hope sustain you through the waiting period while he works. Though it may be difficult, the bible assures us that..
...” those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.” Isaiah 40:31 AMP.
Personally, seasons of waiting have not been easy-peasy but when I did allow myself to trust him through the process, I have often discovered fresh perspectives, a closer walk with God, strength and sudden burst of inspiration and creativity, answers where there was nothing.
If you ask me, I'd say God is worth the wait!

Prayer
Dear heavenly father, thank you for your love and faithfulness to me.  Knowing that youre working for my good makes it easier to wait on you.  Help me to find hope and rest in your word, as I wait.
