PLUG-in

I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
Psalm 121:1‭-‬2 MSG‬‬

While I was trying to teach my son how individual household appliances get powered from the mains, using the illustration of a three-pin fuse plug attached to an appliance, the Holy spirit drew my attention to the semblance of this process in our relationship with God.  Inside the white plastic casing of the plug are three wires and a fuse, each wire serves different purposes, one is called the live wire because it carries electric voltage from the outlet to power the  appliance, the second is the neutral wire which returns unused electricity back to the mains and the third wire carries any excessive current leakages into the ground – earth, to prevent sudden shocks or electrocution. While the fuse breaks to intercept damage to the appliance, from sudden power surge or high voltage. Now if the plug is faulty or simply not connected to the power outlet, the appliance will not function even though it is purposefully equipped for specific functionality.
As I talked with my son, the Holy Spirit ministered to me that our lives are like the appliance designed and made by God for specific purpose and life on earth, but as long as we remain disconnected from the power source, we will not be able to serve our proper use on earth.  We may have a form of existence, which seem exciting and successful at best, but deep down is empty, a life unguarded, sustained by dopamine and fixes.  As an unplugged refrigerator, no matter how beautiful, becomes mere storage and home to all kinds of crawling insects, so it is with us when we are unplugged and disconnected from God, our source of life, strength and inspiration.
Like the live wire supplies voltage to power the appliance when it is plugged into the power source, God's Spirit empowers and enables us to carry out our purpose, even the seemingly impossible and hard things, quite like it says in the bible book of Acts 1 vs 8…’.you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you….” .  In the same manner, as the earth and neutral wires both serve to protect and remove unuseful energy from appliances, plugging into the word of God removes all toxicity and negativity from our minds, replacing it with life! Jesus says…”the words that I speak to you, are spirit and they are life”.   Abundant life grounded in the love of Christ, safe and thriving even in trying times, able to stand, fight and win against the shocks of life by the strength God provides.  Beyond the bliss and the blessings, our faith in this word becomes a mindshield protecting us from the lies and attacks of the enemy, so that we are able to keep our sanity and overcome against all odds!  Indeed, strength comes only from God who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.  You’d best stay PLUGGED.

Pray:  Lord, help me to stay PLUGGED in you.  Amen.
