Made Ready

The bible is a very vivid and captivating story book - permit me to call it a story book even though its much more. I imagine the characters coming alive like it probably would in a Disney movie. I imagine the garden of Eden, the first home described in the first book - Genesis. God's masterpiece of natural architecture built complete and ready for his beloved children, even while they were just seeds conceived in his heart.  I imagine His joy and excitement when he summoned the trinity and crafted mankind marvelously after his own image and likeness. I imagine the compassion he felt seeing the man all alone and knowing he needed a mate, the pleasure and enjoyment of  seeing them together. They revelled in the joy of having each other, dwelling together in communion with the Him. They were  surrounded by his glory and serenaded in eternal beauty. He endowed them with such creative  imagination as he possessed and freewill to exercise this brilliance in naming the creatures of the world he made for them. They lacked nothing dwelling in the presence of his divinity, in constant communion and fellowship with him....
His divine power has given us all things we need for life and godliness here and now.  He doesn't expect us to live by our own strength, he knows our frailty. He's not called us to perform but simply BE, His beloved, whose hearts seek His will.

Pray: Lord I am grateful for your love and grace.  Thank you for giving me everything I need to live a life that is pleasing to you.

God is God and You Are Not

The story of queen Esther - the Jew turned Queen of Persia, is one I have always found quite remarkable (you would find the story in the bible book of Esther). Throughout the whole reality-TV-type drama, (the first scene with the gals all lined up hoping to be selected queen, an ancient episode of The Bachelor, perhaps?), Queen Esther remained focused and clear.   Theres certainly a lot we can learn from her that will guide us as we navigate our own life circumstances, whether dire or humdrum. Following are some helpful lessons we can glean from Esther’s life.     Remember God is God and you are not.   When stuck in the muck of less-than-lovely circumstances, our first — and sometimes only — aim is to get ourselves out, and fast. Our Special Advent

   "...even in the dark of night God is at work, breaking through the husks around our hearts and bringing life, from under dead leaves" CS LEWIS Yesterday, we gathered to celebrate to offer thanks and prayers. As we reminisced about this year now winding down, we realised that even in what looked like utter darkness and uncertainty externally in our world, God was working on the inside, in the secret unseen places, healing, restoring, renewing, mending...getting us ready for our NEXT! C.S. Lewis once asked, “Why are so many holy places dark places?
