Speak the Word
Today's verse of scripture speaks so loudly to each one of us.
I have encountered overwhelming times where pain and fear scream louder than my faith, and I am searching for a ray of hope, a place of solace to anchor my faith...I know some of us are there right now. At such times, I have always found solace in God's word and his promises, I encourage you to do the same. Like David says in our verse..." Why am I so sad? Why am I so upset? I tell myself, “Wait for God’s help! You will again be able to praise him, your God, the one who will save you.” Psalm 42:11 ERV.
In those split seconds when your thoughts start running wild, remember his word and promises to you:
When you’re scared, remember - God hasn’t given me a spirit of fear. (2 Timothy 1:7) I can cast my worries on Him because He cares for me. (1 Peter 5:7) Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) God is my refuge. (Psalm 62:7)
When you’re confused, recall - God’s thoughts are not my thoughts and His ways are not my ways. (Isaiah 55:8) But I will choose to trust Him, not my own limited understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) I might conjure up some plans, but His overall purpose will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21)
When you’ve failed, also remember - It’s only by God’s grace I have been saved, not because of something I’ve done or haven’t done. (Ephesians 2:8) On the cross, Jesus paid the price of sin—once and for all! (Hebrews 9:12) and Thank God! His power works best in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9) - affirmations by @Jenn.
You can place your hope in God, He is faithful a strong and a secure anchor for our souls.
Pray: God, help me to remember that I can anchor my hope in your word and promises, and with your power, I can stand against the storms within and without. Help me to remember this truth when it matters most.
