A new year is upon us again! 

Happy New year!

 Its always good to usher in the new, because it heralds beginnings, fresh starts, renewal of hope, change and sometimes, it can kickstart a time of preparation for things to come...

I didnt start the year thinking about this subject, but each time I sat down to write, I have found myself creating posts about IDENTITY. I sense God is laying emphasis on the issue of our identity as we step into this year. We do not know what the year holds but knowing our place in the heart of God will be the compass we'd need to navigate through the year.

It is important to know what God says about you, how he sees you, where you are positioned in Christ Jesus.  The song writer Sinach says...'I know who God says I am, where he says I'm at, I know who I am'. 

It is not enough though to know, but we have to believe, so that we can refute every thing contrary. Knowing who you are kind of sets the tone for your life. And knowing early, sets you on the right course, it becomes a backdrop for  your goals and every decision (you are more precise more purposefull), and gives you good headstart.

Discover who you are, right where it all begins - Genesis!

 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”
Genesis 1:26‭-‬28 MSG.

 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT 

Our Identity as God's children is everything and comes with a full package deal.
I have created this short list with full  designations to give us something to work with as I hope you would dive in to discover more:

1. Who you are - Designation:
Child of God (Gen 1:27)
God's Masterpiece ( Eph 2: 10).

2. Where you're from - Origin:
Conceived in and from God's heart
Created and formed by His hands
(Gen 1: 26-27, Psalm 104: 30, Rev 4:11).

3. What you are - Pronouncement:
Blessed with Dominion, Power and Rulership (Gen 1:26)
Blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus ( Eph 1:3).

4. Where you are - Position:
 Raised up and seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6)
Hidden with Christ in God! (Col 3:3)

5. Why? - Purpose:
For His own will and pleasure (Rev 4:11)
For fruitfulness, multiplication, governance and replenishment upon earth (Gen 1:28, Eph 2:10)


Prayer:

Ask God to remind you everyday, throughout the year, that you are created in His image, to be like him on the earth.
Lord help me to remember always, who you say I am, the authority and dominion you have given me on earth, help me to live and conduct my affairs with this confidence, as I live to fulfil all that you made me to be. Amen.

The story of queen Esther - the Jew turned Queen of Persia, is one I have always found quite remarkable (you would find the story in the bible book of Esther). Throughout the whole reality-TV-type drama, (the first scene with the gals all lined up hoping to be selected queen, an ancient episode of The Bachelor, perhaps?), Queen Esther remained focused and clear.   Theres certainly a lot we can learn from her that will guide us as we navigate our own life circumstances, whether dire or humdrum. Our Special Advent

   "...even in the dark of night God is at work, breaking through the husks around our hearts and bringing life, from under dead leaves" CS LEWIS Yesterday, we gathered to celebrate to offer thanks and prayers. As we reminisced about this year now winding down, we realised that even in what looked like utter darkness and uncertainty externally in our world, God was working on the inside, in the secret unseen places, healing, restoring, renewing, mending...getting us ready for our NEXT!
